Kanegosyo at NCCC Mall

September 15th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

camwhoring with Gremarc earlier at the Unilever Photobooth for NCCC's Kanegosyo event! Woohoo

Today was the first day of NCCC Mall’s largest trade event: KANEGOSYO. While I’m not really a part of it since it was a supermarket activity, I still went there because my boss and the rest of my team are there.

When my boss told me to go around the booths with him, we found the photo booth people ready to click click click! Gre (from the sales team) and I grabbed the opportunity to cam whore! Haha. Of course, it was free for us Unilever people ~ but for the participants of Kanegosyo, they have to purchase at least Php400 worth of Unilever products to avail of the photo booth activity! Kanegosyo will still be up to Saturday, so I’m prepping myself for a solo photo tomorrow! Haha.

Fiesta Saya, Fiesta Ganda

August 21st, 2010 § Leave a Comment

This year’s Kadayawan Weekend kick-off was a BANG! with Unilever’s Pop Fiesta 2010!

IMG_0421

VIP tickets compliments of Sir Hugo! Was able to see Sam Conception and Ronie Liang perform from the VIP area.

IMG_0432 IMG_0427

And then I sleuthed my way through backstage compliments of the FMS’s.

IMG_0439

Shoutout to Jhing and Rolan (above) and Ysa (below) from the backstage!

IMG_0444

And now, from backstage, please allow me to indulge my inner fan girl. Presenting:

IMG_0438

Ronnie Liang of the “Ngiti” fame. It was my PBF’s theme song in college. Haha. He kinda looks gay with his hair though, but WTHeck right?

IMG_0441  IMG_0443

Sam Concepcion and his shoes. OMG HE’S GWAPO but TOO young! Thought’s he’d look gay, but no – not unless you look down and see the HOT PINK shoes, which are, according to my brothers,Supra DK’s, whatever they are. When I saw them from the VIP area, I had a Jak and Jil moment and decide to photograph them from backstage with much failure because of the many adoring fan bhoi’s and ghel’s.

IMG_0447

Yeng Constantino. She also performed last year. Please be spelling SUKI.

IMG_0451 IMG_0450

And  while I’m not normally a shoe stalker, I was one last night. I even had the chutzpah to ask her where she bought those gorgeous boots. She said they’re from an H&M in the US of A. Oh how I wish we also have H&M here in ze uber-third world Davao. And oh, her top is love. Looks like Topshop, ne’ cest pas?

And now *drum rolls please* for the ultimate FAN GIRL NG BAYAN MODE… I present to you… THE GREAT, THE AMAZING, THE SUPER ASTIG… PAROKYA NI EDGAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_0460IMG_0461IMG_0466 IMG_0462 IMG_0531

1) With Dindin (drummer) and Darius (lead guitar); 2) With the bassist, Buwi; 3) With the neat Vinci, who loves pretty girls and who likes to eat; 4) CHITO MIRANDA. No introductions or whatsoever needed; 5) BUT I FAIL. I FAIL SO MUCH. NO PICTURE WITH GAB!!! So here’s a photo of him playing “Halaga” instead.

And from backstage, I had to go back to the VIP area because I NEED to see them perform. Yes, I am a bigggg Parokya ni Edgar fan girl!

 IMG_0484 IMG_0494

The band was wild last night! And the awesomest thing is that everyone knows their song so ROCK ON!

IMG_0518

IMG_0527

Vinci stood up on the railings, and fell… Ending? CROWD SURFING!!!!! The guys were crazy!

IMG_0548

We didn’t finish the show though. We left while they were having their encore performance to go to this party downtown.

But really! I LOVE PAROKYA NI EDGAR! They bring back fond memories with my first love *belch*, and really really really awesome videoke and inuman moments with friends!

Sa uulitin, Unilever!

okthxbye

Alors on Danse

July 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Perfect song and video for how I’m feeling right now – because work is sucky and I’d rather just dance.

Here’s the English translation of the song:

So lets dance
So lets dance
So lets dance
He who talks about studying, talks about working
He who talks about working, talks about money
He who talks about money, talks about spending
He who talks about spending, talks about debt
He who talks about debt, talks about the bailiff
And also about being in shit
He who talks about love, talks about children
Says until death death do us part and says divorce
He who talks about his peers, talks about mourning because problems never come alone
He who talks about a crisis, talks about a lot of people, talks about the 3th world hunger
He who talks about being tired, talks about awakening, tired from yesterday
So we party, to forget the problems
So lets dance
So lets dance
So lets dance
And you say this is the last time, because only death is worse
When you think everyone is ok and fine, nothing has happened
Ectasy spells problems or it sounds like the music
It gives you a trip and you put your head in your hands praying for it to end
But it’s your body, not the heavens and you stop listening.
Then you scream harder and it won’t stop
So lets sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So lets sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So lets sing
And only when it ends, we dance
So lets dance

Stromae couldn’t have said it better:

Alors on sort pour oublier tous les problèmes.”
So we party, to forget the problems.

“Et là tu cries encore plus fort et ca persiste”
Then you scream harder and it won’t stop

But oh well. No matter how bad I feel about work lately, I need it to pay for my shoes. So yes. We all have our necessary evils. So let’s just dance, okay? Fast forward to Friday please! Can’t wait for Zhaun’s party at Marco Polo. I need to let it all out.

Party Pilipinas in Davao

May 4th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

First of all, I just want to say: KAPAMILYA ALL THE WAY.

Last Sunday, Party Pilipinas was in Davao. Unilever was a sponsor because of the launch of the Best Ever Sunsilk, so we got VIP passes. It was in the middle of the day when the sun is at its hottest. BOO. Say hello to the Unilever people at the show:

DSC01335

So anyway, before the program started, one of the staff picked three from our group to pose as fans for Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera. Guess who got picked? WAAA. Here’s the video of all the embarrassment I’ve experienced! (Note the shades and the hat to hide ze face. LOL)

A lot of my friends and family kept texting me that they saw me on TV! Hahaha. Just to clarify things, I AM NOT A DONG-YAN FAN. And the whole thing was scripted so whatever. HAHA. *Defensive mode*

Say hello the pretend fans, Glen, Chinny and I!

DSC01391

So anyway, despite the heat, I had fun. It was fun making fun (huh?) of our knowledge, or the lack thereof, about GMA talents. We didn’t finish the show by the way. The show was not worth staying under the scorching sun for much longer. A while after the Sunsilk launch, we left for the so much cooler mall nearby.

okthxbye :)

Freebies! :)

February 28th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I’ve already mentioned that I played “Panelist” in a few classes of Mr. Aguelo and Mrs. Marte last week. Aside from the learnings I got from the students, I also got a few freebies such as:

DSC03725-1 DSC03723-1

These are healthy pastries from 2nd Yr Accountancy Students (Section D). They made these pastries for their first ever marketing plan. And wow. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! After the defense, they gave each of us panelist one box! YAY. We’ve already ate more than half of the pastries when I remembered to take a photo! I especially loved the Green Tea Cake and the Lemon Cake (they were the first ones to go. LOL). SUPER YUMMY. Thanks guys! (BTW One of the members from that group is a childhood friend of mine. Shoutout to Gayle! HEHE)

On Saturday night, I also let them drag me to a couple of events for the 4th year Entrep Students. We attended a private fashion show in Ladislawa. I love love love the bags. I also really liked the event (yes, Kat, I did!)! Too bad the electricity went out in the middle of the party! They did a good job though I still had to look out for criticisms because that was what I came there for. But I forgot to take photos! GASP!

After the fashion show, we went to Canine Central in Via Condotti to attend the promotional party they hosted for the place.

Just a little background on Canine Central, it’s a coffee shop / pet shop. I pass by it a lot on the way to work but it was the first time that I’ve been there. The place was cozy but I’m really not into the whole smells-like-dog-food place though since I’m not used to it because we’re not allowed to have pets in the house.

The tickets to the event were so cute and creative! They were the only group to give us the tickets. LOL.

We were hungry when we got to the next event but the food at Canine Central was only so-so. Some were yummy, but some were not so good.

DSC03742

The quesadillas were good. I loved the garlic cheese!

DSC03738

While the rest of the teachers ordered Beef Stroganoff, and Sir Aguelo had Spaghetti, I ordered the Pesto. They didn’t like their orders but I liked mine. TEEHEE. It was a little more oily that what I would’ve originally preferred but it was delicious.

DSC03740

The pastry chef gave us these desserts for free. The Hard Hat Cupcake (leftmost) was too sweet. It wasn’t so great with our iced tea (which was also sooooo good! loved the sweet peach taste!) but it would’ve been perfect for a cup of brewed coffee. My favorite would have to be the Mud Pie and Blueberry Cheesecake! I can’t wait to try the other pastries from DZERTS.MULTIPLY.COM, the pastries supplier of Canine Central.

From my paneling stint, I’ve been smothered with food! From Jollibee to McDo to Goldilocks, to Sisig, to Annie Pie. I’ve already had free lunch and dinner already! HEHEHE.

OMG MY DIET! Kalurky!

okthxbye :)

Bye Lou!

January 5th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Louie has left Unilever already.

I forgot all about it until I arrived at the office this afternoon. I felt so sad. Louie was the reason why I found out about the opening for ULP, so I owe him my work! To know that he’s been let go because the job was just short-term (unlike mine or Ysa’s), it just makes me sad. I would definitely miss his company. I’ll be practically on my own (since Ysa doesn’t really hang around any of the offices). No one would text me about meetings, and people at the offices, and all other stuff! Who would I bother every time now?!

But Louie’s really fine with leaving so YAY. He’s going to rest for a while after this job. He told me he and his family are going to vacation in Ilocos. I’m so jealous! HAHA. I miss living a no-pressure life!

Anyway, bye Louie! Hope you feel even happier in your next job! And thanks for everything! See you in the barkada gimiks instead!

We all know the phrase “Thank God It’s Friday” and really, thank God it is! :D

Today was my first time to drive in the rain alone. And it was also my first time to go home after dark.

Peektyoor.1225

Amazingly, it was a productive day. I started work super early. I was able to get the merchandises that I needed, and then made my planned deliveries for the day. I had lunch with my ULP gang (LOL) and then headed of to the office to laze around and do random work. I was also able to talk to my boss about a few things for a while, and we’ll continue discussing my job in the next few days. The three of us then went somewhere to relax since our schedules for the afternoon were rapidly changed a while back. And then I go my first PAYSLIP today. Hurray! And then did more deliveries and some trade checks and then off to do some personal stuffs!

Earlier today, I found out through at text from Frank that our friend Omay was hospitalized because of Dengue. Donna and I planned to go together after her class. From work, I picked up my sister Kim from school, and then while waiting for Donna, we went on a little (mis)adventure in spite of the rainy weather.

Kim refused to bring an umbrella so she hijacked my oversized hoodie jacket instead.

 Peektyoor.1227Peektyoor.1228

My sister pretended to be shy to take photos for her first time at People’s Park. But her true nature couldn’t stay in hiding for long.

Peektyoor.1230Peektyoor.1233Peektyoor.1256Peektyoor.1234Peektyoor.1235 Peektyoor.1237Peektyoor.1239Peektyoor.1243Peektyoor.1244Peektyoor.1246Peektyoor.1249 Peektyoor.1250 Peektyoor.1254Peektyoor.1242

From People’s Park, we met Donna and then headed out to the hospital to visit Omay. We found Abe there already. We talked for about half an hour or so, and I found out that Omay has (1) UTI (2) Pharyngitis – not sure about the spelling, and (3) Dengue. She’s been there since Wednesday night, the poor baby. I told her I’d try to visit tomorrow.

From DMSF, I brought Donna home and then Kim and I made a pit stop at Jude’s family’s gasoline station near SM to get the car filled up. Our baboy mode turned into full alert when we saw the convenience store, and decided to have dinner there. It turns out that while having dinner, my sister hid my phone in the Sprite Zeron talker in our table and completely forgot about it until we were halfway home already. I had to use my super powers to turn the car around and get back to Caltex as fast as I could dare. So much for reaching home by 7:30. We had to endure the traffic again on our way back.

It was a fun day despite the bad news about Omay. I’m so excited for the weekend since it’s going to be our baby shower for Baby Girl Senoy! :D

Academe VS ‘The Real World’

September 16th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

Yesterday, the supposed visit to Professor Marte’s class turned into a discussion about our life after college, and our life at work.

Louie and I entertained questions from Professor Marte’s Retailing class regarding our current lives or what’s left thereof.

Some of the questions that I remembered were:

What subjects were useful to you in your current job?

On the forefront, I can’t really tell which subjects are useful in my job except for basic accounting. But when my former classmate Albert, asked me about this, I started to realize that somehow, my Marketing classes has helped me a lot in terms of knowledge, trainings and habit-formation. It should be especially mentioned that I have used KASH for my weekly report to my boss before.

Are grades important?

I guess Louie said it best: “grades are not of the biggest deal, but they serve as back-up.” In my case, when applied for the job, my resume was praised in a way by the initial interviewer. And for my final interview, my current boss had asked for my transcript of records. So I guess if you’re aiming for the moon, the rules of the girl scouts would apply: “Always be ready” and my grades served as my preparation for the battleground.

What skills do you need to have in your job?

In our line of work, people skills are the most important. We have to deal with different kinds of people everyday, so our personalities and attitudes have to be adaptive and flexible. In my job, it always helps to be quick and good with figures.

THE LOWDOWN

The real world couldn’t compare to my ideas when I was still school. I used to be so excited to start all this, but now that I know how hard it really is, I’m craving for the now-seemingly carefree life in the academe. The hardest part for me right now is really answering the question: “am I happy?” I mean, sure, I am learning, I am having fun, but the question of happiness still haunts me.

I’ll end this post though by sharing one of my all time favorite quotes from Dr. Scott Peck:

“The secret to happiness is not in doing what you love, but in loving what you do.”

Good News

August 29th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

To those of you who are following the fiasco regarding my employment contract, I share with you a good news to end Week 36.

I am finally going to be signing my contract this Tuesday! AT LAST.

A quick summary to my financial struggles: I was accepted for a job funded by a multi-national company, but employment is technically under an agency. Two weeks in the job, I was not able to sign the supposed contract because of some misunderstanding that they couldn’t fix until now. Last week, my boss talked to me and told me that they’d be moving my employment with the distributor as I work in sales. But just yesterday I was informed that I’ll be staying with the agency. At lunch today, the agency called to tell me the good news.

Finally. What a way to start the –ber months! :) contract = salary! <3

Where Am I?
