Alors on Danse

July 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Perfect song and video for how I’m feeling right now – because work is sucky and I’d rather just dance.

Here’s the English translation of the song:

So lets dance
So lets dance
So lets dance
He who talks about studying, talks about working
He who talks about working, talks about money
He who talks about money, talks about spending
He who talks about spending, talks about debt
He who talks about debt, talks about the bailiff
And also about being in shit
He who talks about love, talks about children
Says until death death do us part and says divorce
He who talks about his peers, talks about mourning because problems never come alone
He who talks about a crisis, talks about a lot of people, talks about the 3th world hunger
He who talks about being tired, talks about awakening, tired from yesterday
So we party, to forget the problems
So lets dance
So lets dance
So lets dance
And you say this is the last time, because only death is worse
When you think everyone is ok and fine, nothing has happened
Ectasy spells problems or it sounds like the music
It gives you a trip and you put your head in your hands praying for it to end
But it’s your body, not the heavens and you stop listening.
Then you scream harder and it won’t stop
So lets sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So lets sing
Lalalalalala, Lalalalalala,
So lets sing
And only when it ends, we dance
So lets dance

Stromae couldn’t have said it better:

Alors on sort pour oublier tous les problèmes.”
So we party, to forget the problems.

“Et là tu cries encore plus fort et ca persiste”
Then you scream harder and it won’t stop

But oh well. No matter how bad I feel about work lately, I need it to pay for my shoes. So yes. We all have our necessary evils. So let’s just dance, okay? Fast forward to Friday please! Can’t wait for Zhaun’s party at Marco Polo. I need to let it all out.

okthxbye

Gone Gaga

March 16th, 2010 § 6 Comments

I don’t know where I’ve been but I’m 5 days late from seeing the new Lady Gaga and Beyonce video! ARGHHH.

There’s only one word for this MV: FIERCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn’t much into the song, but the MV is hot and definitely fashion forward! As far a jailhouse rock is concerned, this one killed it. I think I may even like it better than Gwen Stefani and the Harajuku Girls’ version from a past song (which I forgot already!). Actually, I think this is more of a mini-movie series than a music video – It’s 10 minutes long!

“Once you kill a cow, you gotta make a burger.”

Say hello to Sister Gaga: Natali Germanotta!

And now, on to the most exciting part:

Unfortunately, I wasn’t really listening to the song because I was busy wow-ing at the stunts they pulled with the video! Brings me back to the Tom and Jerry days!

Check out one of their older MV’s which was absolutely awesome as well:

Mahal Kita Kasi

January 31st, 2010 § Leave a Comment

Ok. All together now: “SOBRANG CHEEZY!”

My brother, Klyde, introduced me to this song called Mahal Kita Kasi by Nicole Hyala. It’s a song completely composed of supposedly romantic cheezy lines.

Listen to it here:

bangin ka ba kasi nahuhulog na ako sayo
unggoy ka ba kasi sumasabit ka sa puso ko
pustiso ka ba kasi you know i can’t smile without you
pagod na pagod na ako
maghapon ka na kasing tumatakbo sa isipan ko

kasi naman kasi mahal kita
bagay tayong dalawa
pa-picture nga para mapa-develop kita
hindi tayo hindi rin tayo hayop
bagay tayo bagay talaga

papupulis kita kasi ninakaw mo ang puso ko
kuto ka ba kasi palagi ka sa ulo ko
apoy ka ba kasi alab alab i love you!
magsalbabida ka nga kasi baka malunod ka sa pagibig ko

exam ka ba kasi sasagutin kita agad agad
drugs ka ba kasi kakaadik ka kasi
kulangot ka ba you’re really really hard to get
posporo ka ba? e di posporo din ako para match

Benta ba? HAHA.

okthxbye :D

Cebu’s Dancing Inmates Goes Pro

January 26th, 2010 § 3 Comments

The popularity of Cebu’s Dancing Inmates has indeed reached the shores of Neverland. Michael Jackson’s very own long time choreographer Travis Payne (along with dancers Daniel Celebre and Dreis Reid) even paid them a visit to teach them numbers from the documentary of MJ’s would’ve-been last concert “This Is It”.

The whole performance was professionally filmed by Sony Pictures. No more fan cams for these inmates! Sony used it as a promotional material for the DVD of “This Is It”.

I think I just saw Will Devaughn do a cameo role. Watch it:

While the first performances of the dancing inmates wowed me, this one didn’t. For some reason, the presence of Travis, Daniel, and Dreis made it less appealing. They just looked too “polished” and “awesome” for the inmates as a whole to level with. And the inmates simply looked like background dancers. In my opinion, they should’ve just let the inmates lead the performance, just like before.

But anyhow, I still enjoyed watching it. The inmates seemed to have received new shirts, pants and sneakers. How cute are they? LOL. Speaking of cute, for a maximum security penitentiary, why do I not see big burly guys who looks like they’re out to kill the biggest cannibals in the world? It’s amazing how when they perform, I sometimes forget they’re criminals dancing for their punishment.

Laughing With

I found an interesting song through my friend Zhaun. It’s about the ironies of religion. You see, I’m not a highly religious person though I do believe in God. Hearing the song and listening to the lyrics, I was really struck by the truth it held. I think it is a very relevant song at this point in time – when the world is in shambles, and we are all devastated by disasters coming in one after the other. It’s a really haunting song that is worth listening to.

I listened to Regina Spektor’s haunting song "Laughing With" several times today. I don’t know Regina’s personal religious beliefs, but I think she’s written a powerful song. To me the song speaks of the fact that suffering strips away our flippant attitude towards God. We can laugh at God when all is well or when we encounter a caricature of him, but when tragedy strikes we’re confronted with the reality that we’re helpless. "No one laughs at God in a hospital." – Josh Harris

You can check out the video and lyrics below. Let me know what you think, yes?

LAUGHING WITH
Regina Spektor

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’re starving or freezing or so very poor

No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one’s laughing at God
When it’s gotten real late
And their kid’s not back from the party yet

No one laughs at God
When their airplane start to uncontrollably shake
No one’s laughing at God
When they see the one they love, hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they’re mistaken

No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one’s laughing at God
When there’s a famine or fire or flood

But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious
Ha ha Ha ha

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God
When they’ve lost all they’ve got
And they don’t know what for

No one laughs at God on the day they realize
That the last sight they’ll ever see is a pair of hateful eyes
No one’s laughing at God
when they’re saying their goodbyes

But God can be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God-themed joke, or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they’re ‘bout to choke
God can be funny,
When told he’ll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious

No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one laughing at God in hospital
No one’s laughing at God in a war
No one’s laughing at God when they’re starving or freezing or so very
poor

No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
No one’s laughing at God
We’re all laughing with God

Defying Gravity

Defying Gravity
Chris Colfer Solo
Glee 1.09

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I am defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!

I’m through accepting limits
”cause someone says they’re so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I’ll never know!
Too long I’ve been afraid of
Losing love I guess I’ve lost
Well, if that’s love
It comes at much too high a cost!

I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I’m defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And you wont bring me down!

I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I’m defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
And never bring me down!
bring me down!
ohh ohhh ohhhh!

I’ve been LSS-ing the song ever since I’ve watched the 9th episode of Glee. The episode itself wasn’t that great (considering that I waited 2 weeks for it to come out), but I really love the song! Especially Chris’ version of it. :) The song lyrics is just very empowering. I love it! LOL

LSS

Back then, I just read through the write-ups for Brown Eyed Girl’s latest song “Abracadabra” but I never really got around to seeing the MV because I wasn’t very interested with them. When 2PM/2AM did a parody for this MV, I got curious and checked it out.

Can I say LSS much? The song is addictive and the dance is hot! All those hip swaying and the lesbian theme. Damn girls! It’s so Karla and Leidee! LOL

Check out the video for yourself!

Another LSS that I’ve also been addicted to is Big Bang’s Last Farewell. Their version and 2ne1’s version alternately haunts me all day! Big Bang’s MV is really nice! (Hello! Martin of Lovers in Paris! Love!) And 2ne1’s dance version is so upbeat I can’t help but dance along!

Here’s 2ne1’s stage version:

And Big Bang’s MV:

KPOP Lovers noljja! :)
