Random: My Skin Care Regimen

February 4th, 2010 § 2 Comments

Lately, a lot of people had noticed that my skin is getting clearer. Zits do sprout from time to time, they grow really big and hideous and stay a long time – but that’s another story. Anyway, there’s one right one beside my right eye. It’s been there for a while now. :(

It’s really nothing though. I don’t have the best skin in the world, but I manage. So, how do I do it? Allow me to share my beauty regimen or whatever you call it.

I try to get as much sleep as I can, and I try to avoid being exposed to the sun as much as I can despite the nature of my work.

For my daily routine, I swear by Pond’s. I’ve been using it since high school. I originally used the ordinary facial scrubs (I won’t get technical! LOL) but they really didn’t work for me, but the whitening stuffs that Unilever launched had been God-sent.

I use the Pond’s White Beauty products daily – once in the morning, and once at night. The FLAWLESS WHITE line is much better though. However, it’s also more expensive so I’m going to stick with the cheaper buys. :) I wash with the facial foam for cleansing. And then afterwards, I apply the toner (using cotton), to minimize my ginormous pores. And then I apply the lightening cream. It’s not a moisturizer though. We don’t have it for Pond’s. I’m still scouting for a good moisturizer. :)

Once a week, usually on Sundays, I exfoliate to get rid of dead skin cells. I’ve been using St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub since high school as well. They released a new packaging for it recently, and it smells so much better than before. I love it! Unlike my usually rushed daily routine, I take time when I’m exfoliating. I wash with warm water to open up my pores, and then I scrub and scrub and scrub (including my neck area!) and I even pop some of my zits (oops. bad habit! do not emulate!). After I’m satisfied with my scrubbing, I wash again with warm water, and then use cold water for final rinsing to close my pores. :)

When I go out, I use *drum rolls* BB CREAM!!! I swear I love using it! Unlike the usual cakey and heavy foundation, these are very light and very easy to apply! For daily use, I use Maybelline’s Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream. Why? Because it’s cheap! Only Php299 for an 18ml tube. Unfortunately, they only have one shade and one size for all. The shade is way lighter than my skin tone so I kinda use it as a concealer as well. /teehee/ But anyway, I still love it. It offers medium coverage, (and SPF!) so it’s perfect for work! For special occasions though, I use SKIN FOOD’S ALOE SUN BB CREAM. It’s a bit expensive, about Php1,300 for 50g, so I only use it from time to time. It’s “heavier” compared to Maybelline’s but the shade and coverage is AWESOME! :) It also lasts longer, and personally, I like using it better. :) Just a little trivia about BB Cream: originating in Korea, it’s especially made for Asian skin. It’s a kind of tinted moisturizer, and it offers UV protection and blemish correction! :)
