Mentors

These past few nights had been a super bonding moment with my former professors in college.

bonding )
From L-R: Telai, Mrs. Marte, Ma’am Michelle, Ma’am JM, and Sir Anton.

It was great hanging out with my mentors. I’ve already mentioned in previous posts how much I’ve learned from being part of the panelist from a few classes of Mrs Marte and Sir Anton.

Looking back, one of my favorite classes in college was Mrs. Marte’s. Despite the everyday quizzes and seemingly unforgivable nature of our prof, I really learned a lot from her. I love how she requires no less than Magis from her students. In the end, my paper in Service Marketing/TQM was one of my proudest output ever. My friend Charlene can attest to that because it was her, Leonard and I who really spent sleepless nights over that paper. Too bad I only had classes with Ma’am Lyn on my last semester in college. And I wish she made us do what she requires of her classes now!

Ma’am Michelle, I’ve only known her last Tuesday. It turns out she’s a prof of my brother for a management subject. Small world.

One of the two professors who were with us in almost our whole college life was Ma’am JM. She was my professor in 3 finance subjects, for 3 consecutive semesters since starting on our second year. I don’t know what it was with our class but for those 3 semesters, Ma’am JM cried in our class 3 times, and walked out 3 times! But we love her anyway! We had so much fun in her classes!

And of course, my most fabulous professor ever is Mr. Anthony Aguelo, or better known as BEBE GANDANGREYNA! Yes everyone, he’s gay and proud of it! I got my highest grade ever from his classes. For two semesters, his classes were like an extension of our practicum activities. Two major events, music videos, promotional plans, and other nitty-gritty activities and voila! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Often, I wonder why I have always had a close relationship with my teachers. I guess I used to suck up to them from time to time, but who doesn’t right? I mean, I still talk a lot with my former 4th year High School moderator, I chat with my 3rd year High School moderator, and I still talk with a few other teachers I had from high school. Oh well. It’s the charms. ROFLMAO. But seriously, I never really thought about it before but now, I think I can see teaching in my future. OH THE HORROR FOR STUDENTS!

From the activities these past few nights, Ma’am Marte whispered to me how the groups asked if I could be booted out of the panelist because I was too strict. I guess I was really “walang patawad” when it comes to my criticisms, but what was I supposed to do? Besides, they were meant to be constructive. However, as I personally know most of the people I criticize, it’s really so awkward for me, and I guess, for them. Actually, whenever I give criticisms, I think of what I could still do if I were in their group, and most importantly, I take points from what the other teachers were discussing outside the “huddle” with each group after every activity. OH WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT BEING DEFENSIVE AND ALL?!?! Haha. Whatever. I love what I’m doing! I learn from the expert (ehem, Mrs. Marte, ehem)! HAHAHA. KEEP THEM COMING!

okthxbye :)

Freebies! :)

I’ve already mentioned that I played “Panelist” in a few classes of Mr. Aguelo and Mrs. Marte last week. Aside from the learnings I got from the students, I also got a few freebies such as:

These are healthy pastries from 2nd Yr Accountancy Students (Section D). They made these pastries for their first ever marketing plan. And wow. IT WAS SO GOOD!!! After the defense, they gave each of us panelist one box! YAY. We’ve already ate more than half of the pastries when I remembered to take a photo! I especially loved the Green Tea Cake and the Lemon Cake (they were the first ones to go. LOL). SUPER YUMMY. Thanks guys! (BTW One of the members from that group is a childhood friend of mine. Shoutout to Gayle! HEHE)

On Saturday night, I also let them drag me to a couple of events for the 4th year Entrep Students. We attended a private fashion show in Ladislawa. I love love love the bags. I also really liked the event (yes, Kat, I did!)! Too bad the electricity went out in the middle of the party! They did a good job though I still had to look out for criticisms because that was what I came there for. But I forgot to take photos! GASP!

After the fashion show, we went to Canine Central in Via Condotti to attend the promotional party they hosted for the place.

Just a little background on Canine Central, it’s a coffee shop / pet shop. I pass by it a lot on the way to work but it was the first time that I’ve been there. The place was cozy but I’m really not into the whole smells-like-dog-food place though since I’m not used to it because we’re not allowed to have pets in the house.

The tickets to the event were so cute and creative! They were the only group to give us the tickets. LOL.

We were hungry when we got to the next event but the food at Canine Central was only so-so. Some were yummy, but some were not so good.

The quesadillas were good. I loved the garlic cheese!

While the rest of the teachers ordered Beef Stroganoff, and Sir Aguelo had Spaghetti, I ordered the Pesto. They didn’t like their orders but I liked mine. TEEHEE. It was a little more oily that what I would’ve originally preferred but it was delicious.

The pastry chef gave us these desserts for free. The Hard Hat Cupcake (leftmost) was too sweet. It wasn’t so great with our iced tea (which was also sooooo good! loved the sweet peach taste!) but it would’ve been perfect for a cup of brewed coffee. My favorite would have to be the Mud Pie and Blueberry Cheesecake! I can’t wait to try the other pastries from DZERTS.MULTIPLY.COM, the pastries supplier of Canine Central.

From my paneling stint, I’ve been smothered with food! From Jollibee to McDo to Goldilocks, to Sisig, to Annie Pie. I’ve already had free lunch and dinner already! HEHEHE.

OMG MY DIET! Kalurky!

okthxbye :)

4 seconds, 5 hours, 8 weeks, 10 years, FOREVER and EVER and EVER!

February 27th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I was just suddenly remembering something one of my former professors said when I was hanging out at the Faculty Lounge of Ateneo last Thursday. We were talking about relationships (IKR? WHY DID I TALK ABOUT THIS WITH THEM AGAIN?) and he said something like:

So it really doesn’t always mean that when you’re together for a long time that you will love each other for far longer and be together until the end. Likewise, it is also possible that despite knowing each other for a few hours, days, or weeks, you won’t last forever. A long acquaintance doesn’t translate to a long relationship, and a short acquaintance also doesn’t automatically translate to a shorter relationship.

Or something to that effect. I just remembered that because I was thinking about the movie Miss You Like Crazy. Though I’m still skeptical about a one-week long love affair turning out to be “TRUE LOVE” after 3-5 years apart, still I could not rule out the question: WHAT IF IT CAN HAPPEN?

I guess it just the effect of the hour (it’s 3AM. GASP!) But off the record (LOL), I used to believe in Love At First Sight because I thought, young as I was at that time, that I had experienced it. ZOMG. PUPPY LOVE FAIL! HAHAHAHAHAHA. But as the years wore on, and we’ll fast forward it to my college years, I’ve realized that LOVE IS A CHOICE. (oh my. such deep words. WTF WTF WTF) Just like happiness, just like despair, just like everything else is a choice. And I do believe in that more strongly that “love at first sight” and all that uncontrollable nonsense.

okthxbye :)

P.S.

Remind me not to blog again at 3AM. I don’t get why I write these things and worse – PUBLISH THEM! *TELAI HIDES UNDER A ROCK FOR THE NEXT 100 YEARS*

Miss You Like Crazy

February 26th, 2010 § 4 Comments

I just got back from a movie date with my friend Ann. So obviously, we went to watch John Lloyd Cruz’ movie Miss You Like Crazy because I NEVER MISS A JOHN LLOYD MOVIE!

Miss You Like Crazy poster

SUPER SPOILER ALERT.

So let me first talk about what I like about the movie… I like some of Bea’s clothes in the movie – especially the dress she wore during her surprise birthday in Malaysia. I COULD NEVER NOT TALK ABOUT CLOTHES. ARRGGH. I also love the essence of the first part of the movie. It was very daring as it tackles fidelity or the lack thereof. Both the main characters went through it, unlike most stories where usually the bidas are the ones scorned. Since fidelity is a prevalent (though unacceptable) practice, I guess a lot of people would be able to relate to it. Picture this: man and woman together for 4 years, man meets another woman (who I think was super crazy at the start, but she suddenly changed towards the end) and fell in love with each other in just a week (YES. JUST A WEEK). Other woman finds out about the relationship, man feels torn between two lovers, tells other woman he loves her and that to wait for her at the ferry terminal (eew isn’t Pasig River smelly and dirty?), man breaks up with woman, but turns out to be unsuccessful, didn’t meet other woman at the ferry. Other woman was heart broken, went back to Malaysia. A few years later man goes to Malaysia, free of his former relationship already, and looks for other woman, tried to get her back, almost got her back BUT woman chose to stay with her betrothed, man goes back to Pinas heartbroken. And on Feb 24, 2010 (the opening day of the movie. hrrmff) everything falls into place as instead of going to Paris with the betrothed, other woman goes back to Pinas as urged by the betrothed, and reunites with man. THE END. Wow. That’s the whole story in a few lines. That said, let me now share what I didn’t like. I DIDN’T LIKE THE ENDING. It would’ve been better if they didn’t end up together, IMHO. I felt it was not right that they got back together at the end. The “feel” just didn’t add up to it. (OMG IS THIS THE EFFECT OF OBSESSING OVER 500 DAYS OF SUMMER?!?!?!) I also didn’t like John Lloyd very much in the movie. Acting-wise, he was flawless as usual. It was his physical looks I hated. HE LOOKED SO LOSYANG! I swear! He looked 30-ish in this movie. And he kept on wearing shirts/polos that doesn’t suit him – some stuff he wore even emphasized his MOOBS and that is never good! THEY SHOULD HAVE FIRED HIS STYLIST! (here I go again about clothes!) I also don’t like Bea very much here. She’s really pretty and has really nice skin and all, but her acting leaves a lot to be desired for, I guess. I mean, seeing as this is their “reunion project” it’s really obvious that she won’t be where she is right now without John Lloyd’s help. I guess the star of the show for me would be Ketchup Eusebio. LOL. He was so funny and so perfect for his part. And the little girl who would’ve been Bea’s movie-stepdaughter had she married that Malaysian man. Over all, I give this movie a 3 out of 5 stars. It didn’t live up to the hype. And in true Star Cinema fashion, the best parts were already shown in the trailer.

Still, I love John Lloyd! And two of my all-time favorite Pinoy movies are his:

OMCfinalposter3 A Very Special Love

One More Chance is still the best drama ever, and A Very Special Love the best comedy movie! (err. it’s tied with Kimmy Dora! Hehehe…) JOHN LLOYD ALL THE WAY! :)

Please Explain This To Me Right Now

February 25th, 2010 § 1 Comment

There’s a new hobby in town right now… and it is BEDAZZLING. But it’s not just your ordinary football bedazzling aka The Rock’s movie Game Plan. NO. This is different… QUITE DIFFERENT. Guess where the bedazzling is happening… guess… guess… guess… one last chance… guess… have you guessed where already? Ok… here it is… the answer is… the bedazzling is happening in… YOUR VAJAYJAY!!!! oh wait! did I just say VAJAYJAY?! YES! I JUST DID! GREAT BALLS OF FIRE. And following the name-merging trend/fad aka Jeggings, Skort, etc, this HIGHLY DISTURBING activity is called: *tentenenen* VAJAZZLE!!!!!! How creative, no? Think BEDAZZLE + VAGINA. NOTTTTT!

Apparently, Jennifer Love Hewitt do it all the time to make her feel better about her privates. I MEAN. WHAT THE HECK. And yes. People actually go to spas like Completely Bare in New York to get VAJAZZLED. It’s not just Jennifer Love. WTF

Here’s a quote from her interview in Lopez Tonight:

After a breakup, a friend of mine Swarovski crystalled my, um, precious lady. It shined like a disco ball.

That said, I’d like to quote our friends from The Luxury Spot on as-shiny-as-disco-balls-vajayjay: “Because that’s exactly what I want for my lady business. To blind whoever it is looking at my lady parts.” WTF WTF WTF.

As a proof that this bizarre vajazzling really happens, check out these photos:

For my sake, I hope you are as disturbed as I am upon this horrific phenomena. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. I THOUGHT ALL ALONG THAT BEDAZZLING IS A WHOLE SOME ACTIVITY FOR KIDS. I AM COMPLETELY DISTURBED UPON THESE TURN OF EVENTS.

But she (the lady who got her vajayjay bedazzled in the photos) looks completely (AND RIDICULOUSLY) happy. God bless her. But for the love of God please spare me all these horrific fads people are turning to these days. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS. RIDICULOUS!

Political Jokes

February 25th, 2010 § Leave a Comment

I think The Professional Heckler says it all perfectly in the tagline of his blog:

“The problem with Political Jokes is they get elected.”

This is why we should never ever take people at face value. So what if he was a famous actor? So what if his dad has an “agimat”? It doesn’t mean he won’t be like any other TraPo (Traditional Politicians) out there.

So yeah. Damn.

Isn’t it sad that our politicians think this way?

The Chosen One: A FAN GIRL MOMENT

Fullscreen capture 2252010 22409 AM.bmp

I have just finished reading the last two books from the Harry Potter series. I started on Saturday evening with The Half Blood Prince and finished The Deathly Hallows a little while ago. No matter how many times I read the book (I’ve read each at least twice already), it still gets to me as it’s the first time – always!

While bawling my eyes out, it got me wondering how the hell did people even compare Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga to the genius that is JK Rowling’s Harry Potter?! Some people, I guess are just nuts. OR they’re too stupid to favor obsessive vampiric orgies to the pure love, courage, and friendship that Harry Potter just reeks off.

Fullscreen capture 2252010 22324 AM.bmp

Have you ever had that experience of after going through a book, a thought, or even an experience, again and again, and each in each repetition, you discover something new? Well, that’s what reading The Harry Potter series does to me.

When I first read the 6th book, I really didn’t care much about “the half blood Prince” or the importance he would play. So what if Snape was the HBP (shortcut!)? He was only relevant as it for a while, but what really struck me was the Death of Dumbledore. Even the horcruxes didn’t really matter to me. I was busy mourning over the loss of my favorite professor in Hogwarts. Blimey! It really does feel as if Dumbledore and McGonagall have been my teachers in school. I should always remind myself that I am no witch (well, maybe I am sometimes) and that I do not study at Hogwarts. But going back to mourning about the Dumbledore’s death, I realize that I cry even harder the succeeding times that I’ve read the book!

After finishing the 7th book tonight, I’ve arrived at a new appreciation towards the whole adventure of Harry. Having read the literary trash that is Twilight (Yes, I swooned over it for a while. Edward did, at the start, create an image of a macho and chaste vampire that I could lust over all day. Imagine, a sexy vampire at your bidding. Want – until I banged my head into reality that is.) But tonight, after reading 500 pages of the book nonstop (I couldn’t stop reading even if my life depended on it), I’d like to bang my head for real for ever succumbing into the Twilight crap. (SINCE WHEN DID THIS ENTRY TURN INTO A TWILIGHT-HATE BLOG?)

So anyway, I noticed something twisted about me. I like crying, and I like it a lot. I cry even at the smallest things that I’ve read or remembered. And the more I know about incoming deaths and such, the harder I could control my sobs. I still don’t get it why Tonks and Lupin had to die. Or FRED! It was just too horrible. It made me wonder if in real life, would we really need to sacrifice a lot of blood to achieve peace?

And I just have a few random questions. What subject did Dumbledore teach in Hogwarts? What house did he belong to? His brother Abeforth? And who did Teddy Lupid stay with? And who exactly is Victoire, the Weasley’s cousin? Is she the daughter of George, Percy, Charlie, or Bill? But seeing as the name is French, and Teddy is already 19 years old – almost just as old as the number of years that Bill and Fleur has been married, I assume then that Victoire is their daughter? OH WHAT THE HECK AM I TALKING ABOUT?! And then I wonder how Ginny and Harry got together after the duel. How everything resumed to normal? What do they do, Harry, Ginny, Hermione, and Ron? I wonder what their works are. And how was Dumbledore able to talk to Harry after he willingly “died” in Voldemort’s hands? SO MANY QUESTIONS AND NO MORE HARRY POTTER BOOKS ANYMORE! THAT’S THE SADDEST THING IN THE WORLD – BOOK WISE. I did wish, in fact I still do, that JK could’ve extended the book at least with one more installment. Dedicating half a book to the life of Harry Potter after the downfall of his mortal enemy, Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldyot Voldemort. BUT JK ROWLING WAS LIKE A DEMENTOR WHO SUCKED IN ALL MY HOPES AFTER RELEASING THE DEATHLY HALLOWS AS THE LAST PART OF THE MUCH LOVED HARRY POTTER SERIES. SHE BROKE MY HEART. HUHU.

Ok. I’m not making any sense here as usual so I’ma go now.

okthxbye :)

P.S.

I gave a grade of 35% for a defense I paneled during my lunch break yesterday. It’s my first time to give that low!  The other day, I only gave away 65 or so as the lowest. OH THE HORROR. I’M SORRY. That’s all. *remorse* and oh… LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Where Am I?
