Shopaholic Strikes Again
January 31st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
I know I know I know. I NEED TO SAVE. I tell myself that a bajillion times a day already, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be able to appreciate (lust over and dream about) beauties like these patent peep toe pumps:

I’ve been thinking about getting black peep-toes for a while now, but with S/S 2010 looming over me, I’m forced to re-evaluate my options so I could keep up with the flirty and summery look. (and it’s not as if I can afford to buy at the moment so I’m shopping in my mind)
I already have overused pink patent flats so I’m thinking about either yellow or turquoise for some really eye-catching colors. (Read: turquoise is the official color of S/S 2010) The white is also really pretty and the red really bold – but I don’t think they’re for me.
These babies are on hand so if I could scrimp on my self-imposed allowance in the next few weeks, I think I have enough for these, yes? NO. I’m buying high-cut black Chuck Taylor’s (as inspired by Jack and Jil’s feature on Maya Villiger) so I have to SAVE SAVE SAVE.

And while we are in the subject of Maya Villiger, don’t you just love her shoes? I already have a pair of oxford booties, and some short boots (though in red, not black), so I’m looking out for (a) Black High Cut Chuck Taylors (b) Lace up wedge booties (I’m thinking about Forever21!) and (c) Classic black pumps (I might go with platform pumps if I can afford them already).
I’m such a sucker for timeless pieces. But I noticed I have too many dark colors in my wardrobe already that’s why I’m keeping my eye open on candy colored beauties such as these peep toe pumps. I’ll get the pumps next time hopefully. :’(

Napasubo Na…
January 31st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Last Wednesday, I watched “Pano Na Kaya” with my good friends Frank and RB. I loved the movie and the cheezy lines – I’m sorry, I’m a sucker for chick flicks, and yes, even Pinoy ones!
We finished quite early so the three of us decided to have dinner together.
It took us a long time to decide where to eat but when Frank asked about meals at hotel restaurants, I suggested we go to Lotus Court in Marco Polo since I know they have those ala carte rice bowls for only Php150 or so.
We were already seated and had been waited already when we found out that they only serve the cheap rice bowls for lunch! GASP! Ayun na. Napasubo na. So we ordered from their quite expensive menu instead.
I really can’t remember what exactly we had that night but we had some stir-fried fish and some sort of spare ribs, I suppose, with chicken and something rice.
Oops I only remembered to take photos after we ate! Telai FAIL!
While the food was good, we paid a whopping Php1,200 for only dinner that night. Talk about BUSTING MY SAVINGS. But oh well, we’ve never done it before so it was a new experience for us to dine posh.
Of course, we had to cam whore a little as the lighting inside the hotel was pretty.
And we even took pictures at Cafe Marco just for the LULZZ.
Afterwards, Frank and RB dropped me off at the roof deck of Gaisano Mall parking to meet with Carlo and the gang, my carpool for the night. Frank and RB joined us for a while and then we left our separate ways, going in different directions away from downtown. Before heading home, we (Carlo and the gang) hanged out for a while at our favorite spot near the beach in our village, just talking and laughing and smoking (them. I don’t smoke). Whhew. What a night!

Mahal Kita Kasi

Ok. All together now: “SOBRANG CHEEZY!”
My brother, Klyde, introduced me to this song called Mahal Kita Kasi by Nicole Hyala. It’s a song completely composed of supposedly romantic cheezy lines.
Listen to it here:
bangin ka ba kasi nahuhulog na ako sayo
unggoy ka ba kasi sumasabit ka sa puso ko
pustiso ka ba kasi you know i can’t smile without you
apoy ka ba kasi alab alab i love you!
magsalbabida ka nga kasi baka malunod ka sa pagibig koexam ka ba kasi sasagutin kita agad agad
drugs ka ba kasi kakaadik ka kasi
kulangot ka ba you’re really really hard to get
posporo ka ba? e di posporo din ako para match
Benta ba? HAHA.

Hana Yori Dango Adaptations, IMO
January 29th, 2010 § 8 Comments
Because I was watching (again!) the ending of Boys Over Flowers One More Time in ABS-CBN Primetime, here’s my opinion on the 3 TV adaptation of the manga Hana Yori Dango.

Hana Yori Dango (Japanese version) has the best story ever, Makino and Tsukasa wise. I love the ending for HYD2, and the movie for HYD3 was awesome even though it was kinda outrageous. The point is, all the endings from HYD1 to HYD3 were never bitin.
I also think that they casted the prettiest version of Makino Tsukushi. She’s really pretty and adorable. And though I’m not a fan of Matsumoto Jun (IMO he looks like a louse), I think he played a pretty good Domyouji Tsukasa. He eventually grew on me as the series progressed. Among the F4 for the Japanese version, I had a crush on Hanazawa Rui. He’s not usually what I’d like but he’s the most attractive already in the group. (Napilitan. LOL) The other two, I forgot their names, are obviously irrelevant to me.

Boys Over Flowers (Korean version) has the hottest guys among the adaptations. In order of hotness, I rank Seo Yi Jeong as the most attractive, and then Gu Jun Pyo, Yoon Ji Hoo, Dao Ming Si, and Hwa Ze Lei (the last two from the Taiwan version). They also have the best clothes – probably because they’re the latest. F4 Taiwan looked pretty good to me before. LOL.
The best part of Boys Over Flowers would probably be the Yi Jeong-Ga Eul story, though the ending definitely wasn’t enough. I find Jan Di cute, but oh well, I’m still pro-Makino! HAHA. Song Wu Bin was the most irrelevant but at least I know his name!
Too bad this is only a one-part story. I’ve already mentioned I didn’t like the ending. NOT ENOUGH. The soundtrack though was AWESOME. I love most of the songs! Unlike in HYD, I only know their intro song “Love so Sweet” by Arashi.

And *drumroll please* the last but not the least, the original METEOR GARDEN (Taiwan version). I’m sorry but this is still my favorite version ever. I have a soft spot for the show that sparked my all-things-Asian addiction. I’m referring to Meteor Garden 1, okay, just to make it clear. I didn’t like the second one that much. 5 out of 10, at most. I have the biggest crush on Dao Ming Si. I originally liked Hwa Ze Lei, but Ah Si’s character grew on me as he proved his love to San Cai over and over again. And while a lot of my friends were lusting over baggy-clothed Mei Zuo and preppy prince Xi Men, I was busy cutting out photos of my Ah Si and Lei and laminating them so I could look at them over and over again. LOL.
I also like San Cai. She was feisty but she was also really endearing! And the soundtrack marked my first foray into CPop. For the record, I bought the original CD’s of F4 and Meteor Garden OST. And until now, I still have songs from those albums in my playlist. And oh, did I mention that I had a crazy moment before when I had the picture posted above edited to change San Cai’s face to mine? Yes. I have the photo here somewhere. I shall post it one of these days. LOL
I am obviously a fanatic. What do you think?
Heed Thy Words

While browsing through some online shoe shops in multiply, I came across great words from Christian Louboutin himself.
Don’t you just love him?!?! One of the things included in my MUST-DO-BEFORE-I-DIE list is to own at least a pair designer shoes from Louboutin, Blahnik, McQueen, and Choo’s among others. Actually, I want to own a closetful of designer clothing, bags, accessories, shoes and even linen! HAHA. But fashion has always been one of my ultimate weaknesses, especially shoes! I find it hard to resist a beautiful pair of shoes – never mind that they’re not designer because I have to work it on my meager budget, you know. kthxbye.

I Love Oxford Shoes!
January 26th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
I’ve been wanting to buy a pair of flat oxford shoes since the F/W 2009 season but I couldn’t find them anywhere. I have the black oxford booties already though. And now I have found affordable flats, but damn it, I have to restrain myself and stick to my budget! This is just sheer AGONY. TORTURE!
These are from Steve Madden. If I buy it online, they’re Php3,680 each.
I love the black and white version because it’s really classic and trendy (ironic, right?) while I also heart the cognac pair because it’s very versatile! But they’re way too expensive for me right now.
I found a cheaper version, something from Qupid, for only Php1,550-Php1,680 depending on where I would purchase.
Except for the shoe laces, they look almost the same right? This would be perfect for cigarette pants/slacks for business casual looks, and shorts for a cross between casual and dressy ensembles, yes? Too bad they don’t have the cheap version in brown.
I’m really torn right now. I have to decide before Feb 1 (that’s the cut off dates for preordering) so that it’ll arrive in time for the Shanghai trip. So, a little help here? Should I buy or not?
Cebu’s Dancing Inmates Goes Pro
January 26th, 2010 § 3 Comments
The popularity of Cebu’s Dancing Inmates has indeed reached the shores of Neverland. Michael Jackson’s very own long time choreographer Travis Payne (along with dancers Daniel Celebre and Dreis Reid) even paid them a visit to teach them numbers from the documentary of MJ’s would’ve-been last concert “This Is It”.
The whole performance was professionally filmed by Sony Pictures. No more fan cams for these inmates! Sony used it as a promotional material for the DVD of “This Is It”.
I think I just saw Will Devaughn do a cameo role. Watch it:
While the first performances of the dancing inmates wowed me, this one didn’t. For some reason, the presence of Travis, Daniel, and Dreis made it less appealing. They just looked too “polished” and “awesome” for the inmates as a whole to level with. And the inmates simply looked like background dancers. In my opinion, they should’ve just let the inmates lead the performance, just like before.
But anyhow, I still enjoyed watching it. The inmates seemed to have received new shirts, pants and sneakers. How cute are they? LOL. Speaking of cute, for a maximum security penitentiary, why do I not see big burly guys who looks like they’re out to kill the biggest cannibals in the world? It’s amazing how when they perform, I sometimes forget they’re criminals dancing for their punishment.

Joanne Betanio’s 18th birthday party at The Apo View Hotel last night was a blast. The place looked great, the food was delicious, and I was with really good company!
Of course, Louie and Nikki were there. I haven’t seen the both of them in weeks! And then there’s Leonard, She She, and Marlon. I think the last time I saw Leonard was when he left for the US last November. I don’t think I’ve seen him in December… Hmmm. So anyway, the 6 of us were seated at the same table so YIPEE YAY!
It’s so nice to be reunited with my friends from college. The so-called “goddesses” were there as well! Better quality photos are with them as I did not bring a camera last night. I only used my phone. So anyway, as usual, I had a really good time talking to and cam whoring with my “ka-age at heart” friends. LOL.
But really. It was so nice to hang out with Leonard and Louie again. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since we graduated from college. We used to be together all the time in school! Now, we barely see each other especially since Louie left Unilever.
After the debut celebration at the ballroom, we moved the party upstairs at the hotel rooms the Betanio’s had for the night. It was boozing and some friendly “Truth or Dare” games with Leonard’s cousins, Joanne’s high school friends, and the “goddesses.” Though the latter never joined both activities. They just went in the room for a while to chat.

We had Leonard and Louie do a dare to lie down beside each other in the bed so we could take photos. HAHA. It was such a riot because Leonard refused to do it properly! Our night ended at 3AM already. I was so tempted to sleep over as I was so sleepy but Percy Jackson 5 lured me home.
I wore my black lace dress from SM Department Store, So! Fab white high heels, nude bag from Prada, and some random gold accessories.
Thanks for the invite Leonard! And Happy Birthday Joanne!
(BTW, Joanne officially turned 18 last January 21, same as my twin brothers. And yesterday was my friend Mimi’s 21st birthday. ^.^)
Rainy Days and Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays

WARNING: This is a totally random (and senseless) post about the weather and my outfits, you’re not obliged to read on. ^_^
****
The weather has been soooo cold (and gloomy!) these past few days. Well, except for this afternoon when the sky suddenly cleared and the sun showed it’s wrath.
It was super cold last Wednesday. Finally, I had an excuse to wear my ankle boots! YAY. It was the first time I wore them. My grandmother brought it to me when she got back from the States last November.
Well, the outfit wasn’t great (recycled!) and the photo quality is so much worse. HAHA. But I loved it anyway. It kept me warm the whole day! I wore my gray Gap wrap cardigan over my black long-sleeved button down top from Maldita and a pair of black leggings. I finished the outfit with brick red chunky boots and my overused brown slouch bag.
Yesterday, I simply wore the same cardigan over a fuchsia top from Old Navy, dark blue jeans from Bench, and black flats. I forgot to take photos. Oops.
I supposedly had a meeting at 9am this morning. I had to wake up really early despite having slept at 2am last night from reading Percy Jackson Book 2. I live an hour away from the office, and would it usually takes me that same time to get ready, you can do the math what time I should be awake to get to my meeting on time. And with that you can tell I didn’t have enough sleep with my bloodshot eyes, yes? I was running late already (or so I thought), I didn’t have time to put on make up to brighten my sallow face so yeah, pardon the photo. This was taken right outside the office. When I got there this morning, a couple minutes past 9am, the office was still closed. I waited for more than 15 minutes before my boss sent me a message that our meeting would be moved to 10.30am instead. I forgot to wear a jacket so I grabbed the extra time I had to run from the office to the mall to buy myself a shawl. (oh noes! shopping again?!?!) So yeah. I ended the day wearing a turquoise tunic top from Penshoppe (the color of S/S 2010!), skinny gray jeans from Vanilla, and my fuchsia flats. No full body photo though. I got to lazy. PFFT.

*Oh wow. You’ve read ‘til here? I’m sure reading through this post must’ve been torturous. Sorry! HAHA
**Such ugly photos. Especially the last one. WAAA. /shameless
Reading Percy Jackson for my Lullaby
January 21st, 2010 § Leave a Comment
I can’t sleep. I’m going to start reading the “Percy Jackson” series by Rick Riordan instead.
The first book is Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. The movie adaptation for this book is going to premiere in the US next month. The trailer looked promising so I’m going to give this book and the movie a chance.
So here’s the book summary I found thanks to Google:
Percy Jackson is a normal twelve-year old boy (or so he thought), who is diagnosed with ADHD. His ADHD causes him to lack control and get into trouble over and over again. What Percy doesn’t know is that his misbehavior may have something to do with him being a “half-blood”— the son of a human and a Greek god. Percy becomes aware of his true identity when he loses his mother and is sent to a “half-blood” camp. After being at camp, Percy discovers that his father is the Greek god Poseidon. Percy has become a pawn in a battle between the gods that may be the cause of World War III. Percy is sent on a journey to the underworld to retrieve Zeus’s stolen lightning bolt from Hades. Grover, the satyr, and Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, accompany Percy on the journey. If all goes well, their quest should restore peace on Mount Olympus (which is the 600th floor of the Empire State Building). On their journey to the underworld, they battle a variety of mythological beings and receive guidance from Percy’s mother Sally and a centaur named Chiron. This fast-paced, engaging tale will easily capture and hold the interest of young adult readers from Percy’s warning to the reader on page one until the surprise twist at the end.
I really hope I enjoy the series. Thanks to my friends Abe and Mikki for the copies.
Hurray for a new lullaby tonight.
