Longest Tweet Ever

July 23rd, 2009 § Leave a Comment

This is my personal record. Yesterday I found out that using Sun Alertz, I am able to twit more than 140 characters at a time. This morning, while I was busy being bored at the big ugly brown sofa at the office, I decided to try if I could do the LONGEST TWEET EVER.

Here is my personal best at 247 characters. This is pure nonsense. I loves it!

Fullscreen capture 7232009 63934 PM.bmp

And my runner up at 246 tweets. and this one is worse at the nonsense-ness of it. WHAT???

Fullscreen capture 7232009 64354 PM.bmp

The first longest tweet ever recorded (not quite sure about his) was by Twitter user @amerkawar who blogged about his 246 characters’ tweet. And then Forbes reporter @taylorburley claimed he holds the longest tweet record at 247 characters. And then @amerkawar reclaims the longest tweet ever at 250 characters.

However, while researching for the longest tweet ever, I happened accross @youfoundjake who was also able to tweet 250 characters.

My next goal is to be able to do a 250-character tweet! Twitter much?

WORK

July 21st, 2009 § Leave a Comment

To describe my first day of work in a one word: EXHAUSTING.

You can read all about it in today’s tweets. Been tweeting since morning. Even when I was in the middle of a meeting, and while out in the field for my training.

I’m not very happy so far, but I’ll do my best.

Telai’s First Day at Work

  1. Arrived at ULP Office at 8:30am for my 9am call time. The office was still closed so I went to Drive D to make tambay as per Louie’s suggestion.
  2. Back at the ULP Office, waited until 10:00am for Sir Hugo to arrive, and then after an hour and a half of waiting, I was unceremoniously sent to the Distributor’s warehouse somewhere in Agdao. I had to take a cab using my own money.
  3. Observed in a meeting which I didn’t really understand. I tweeted the whole time. Stayed there until 1pm.
  4. Was introduced to the people I would immediately work with. Finished at around 1:30pm, and then went out for lunch.
  5. Had lunch with Ms. Honey at Red Ribbon in Chimes. Our next stop was NHQ. Was introduced to the Buyers, and saw the CDA transactions.
  6. Went back to the warehouse, and was taught about the next steps for the CDA transactions.
  7. Parked at SB (Ms. Honey payed her credit card bills), and then went to visit NCCC Main. Saw how she does her work in both the Super Market and Dep Store.
  8. Went to NCCC Centerpoint and learned the same as above.
  9. Went to S-Activation Office to get some promo materials for Ponds.
  10. NCCC Mall. Took some photos of displays of competitors (spy mode).
  11. Got home at around 6pm. SO EXHAUSTED.

I didn’t realize my work requires that much travel without a car. It’s so unfair. LOL. Seriously, I dislike sales. I’d rather sit behind a desk all day. That I can do best! Oh well. Cheers to the employed life!

On New Beginnings

July 21st, 2009 § Leave a Comment

Today is the first day of the rest of my life… today I begin another chapter of craziness and all that jazz… today I start working!

Though it doesn’t really match with my “week starts on Monday” philosophy, I think it’s good for me to undergo changes. To start with, I woke up way earlier than usual this morning with the help of my then useless alarm clocks/mobile phones.

I hope to be able to learn new things today at my training. I’ll just be at the office for some orientation with a girl named Honey, I think she’s the MTAS, I dunno what that means thought but we kinda have the same line of work.

I seriously feel scared and excited at the same time. At this point, I’m not sure which is a more dominant feeling. I mean, this is it. No more intentionally screwing up because I’m not dealing with grades and school work anymore. I can’t be late when I want to, and I have to put up with scolding and all from my bosses because I’m not paying them anymore. This is, as they say, the real world. If you ask me though, the last 8 years of my life were very real too you know.

After I’ve gone to bed last night, I lay awake for a long time just thinking about this and that. And then I keep being reminded of the saying “Don’t count your chickens before they hatch”. But now that I think about it, that’s exactly what business people do you know, with all our projections and stuff. So I’m not really sure what to believe in. (I can’t remember the point of this paragraph. Haha) I digress.

I just sincerely hope that things turn out well for me.  I will work hard to do my best in everything that’s tasked to me. And… well, I’ll just work really hard. OMG. This is really is it! WORK HERE I COME!

A Celebration

July 19th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

Late last night, I got a call from my friend Ann telling me that we were already being summoned to Francis’ for the belated celebration of Ankol’s birthday. Since this is going to be my last week of unemployment, I’ve decided I should drink as much as I want and just celebrate.

DSC05895DSC06015

We talked about this celebration last week. These guys are our closest friends in the village. I’ve known Carlo and Ann since High School, but Carlo, Ann, Seve, and Francis know each other since grade school. We’ve only met Ankol (I honestly don’t know his real name) a few months ago.  From our history, Ann and I knew that we’d be meeting new guys whenever there’re celebrations or just drinking sessions so it was no surprise that when we got there, almost half of the faces were unfamiliar.

It was all good to meet new friends. Ann and I are up to it for sure. There was food and booze, what more could we ask for? We enjoyed a few rounds of drinks, we had hard mixes and 2 cases of beer. Too bad the Blue Margarita was all gone when we got there. We settled for the mix that Kuya Jonde made consisting of Brandy, Iced Tea, Lemon, and Curacao. It was delicious. Kuya Modgie made a beeline for home to get 14 shot glasses so we can all drink up together.

DSC05962 DSC05936

In the midst of all our fun, Kuya Modgie, Ann and Tik Tik decided to do a a challenge on who’d finish all 14 shots the fastest. To make the long story short, Tik Tik won, and Ann… well, let’s just say she got wasted. Actually, only a few of us didn’t get wasted this morning. Everyone got drunk except for Seve and I because we controlled our drinking. So much for drinking as much as I want.  After seeing Ann home, I didn’t drink much anymore just because I didn’t want to.

DSC06061DSC06052

Last night I’ve witnessed the cliche about drunk men. How they lose their minds and stuff when wasted.  It was the first time that I’ve experienced being talked to in a crude way. I’m very used to hanging out with guys but I was never talked to like that before. I want to be offended however I am aware that in their drunken state, they wouldn’t remember anything the next day. I guess it was my intuition talking earlier when I decided to stop drinking. Lesson learned from the celebration: choose your battles – or in this case, choose your actions and make sound decisions. Hurray for my self-control.

We ended the morning cleaning up after all their mess. We washed the dishes, made sure everyone was comfortable in the bahay kubo and in the living room, and cleaned up the backyard.

DSC06058DSC06056DSC06057

I went home at almost 5am already. Before going to bed, I thought about what happened and realized at least two things (1) I don’t want to clean up after others’ mess and (2) I don’t want to be a burden to others therefore I should have more self control.

More photos at my Facebook. Hurray for birthdays, celebrations, and new experiences!

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

July 19th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

I loved the 6th installment of the Harry Potter movie franchise. It was deep, dark, and wonderful. The movie gave justice to the book. Although I was kind of disappointed from the lack of action scenes especially in the last part, I have appreciated the approach taken by the director. They’ve focused on dialogue which I think was more important than the action scenes in connecting the movie from the previous to the next books/movies.

A lot of revelations were in the 6th book, and so it was vital that all these revelations be conveyed to the movie goers, especially those that don’t bother to read the great literature that is Harry Potter.

My friend Ann told me she didn’t like it because it was boring, but I love it. The acting was great, the effects were amazing, and the screenplay was just wow. I can’t wait to see the next two movies!

On another thought, I told my friend Jude that I think I may appreciate Harry Potter more because I feel like I have a close relationship with the characters and all. In fact, we grew up with Harry Potter. I was a freshman in high school when the first movie came out. It was November and on the Saturday of the first week, me and my friends rushed to the SM Cinemas and queued with the rest of the populace just to catch our favorite wizard on screen. It’s been 8 years, I’ve graduated from college already, and I am still looking forward to the books and movies. Too bad J.K. Rowling ended the series already.

Thank God It’s Friday

I set aside Friday to comply with requirements for my future job. Gosh. I can’t believe I’m starting this Tuesday already. I digress.

Even though I slept earlier than usual the night before, I still woke up very late. I didn’t have enough time to run errands and stuff, it sucks.

DSC05886a DSC05887

I was able to get my PhilHealth Card though. It was really quick, I’m impressed. And then I had lunch with Louie, Sir Hugo and Sir Glen near the office. And then I waited for an hour for them to wrap up my schedule and modules. And then I went to BIR – I wasn’t able to get a TIN though because of the freaky ‘receptionist’. As it was scorching and I had time on my hands (I decided not to go to the Police Barracks just because) I decided to stop by at Bo’s. It was actually my first time there, and I ordered the cheapest Froccino. It was okay but Starbucks is still Starbucks. From there, I went to UM Multi-Test to check on the requirements for the stool sample, and then I went to NCCC to wait for Ann and our movie date.

I realized I should never get within 100 meters of a mall when there’s money in my wallet. Yesterday, while waiting for my mom to pick me up at SM, I bought an LBD. And not, while waiting for Ann, I bought: headband, 2 necklaces, and 2 books! Ow em gee. All in all, I spent about Php900 today. I suck.

DSC05889DSC05885

But the highlight of the day was watching Harry Potter. More about the movie in my next post though. After Harry, we had dinner at Mandarin with Ann’s ex-boyfriend/’limited’ best friend. Thank God the rain subsided a little when we went out of the mall.

It was a nice Friday that’s for sure. Thank you Lord! :)

What to do when you’re alone in a mall? WINDOW SHOPPING of course!

I was out and about all afternoon. I first had to go to the darn agency to work on my job requirements. I figured that since I’m already hired, I don’t need to look too formal anymore. HAHA. I wore my brother’s graphic Converse tee over dark washed denim jeans. The tee was very loose on me but I really love the cloth so I put on my corset-like vest for a tight fit. I was going to wear flats for a more formal look but decided to wear my Liz Claiborne slippers instead. And to complete the look, I borrowed my mom’s bronze D & G bag and then I was off!

DSC05880DSC05879DSC05881 Peektyoor.0786Peektyoor.0787

From the agency, I went directly to SM to unwind. I spent most of my time there window shopping. I wanted to watch HARRY POTTER but it’s not a movie to watch by myself, and all my friends were not available soooo window shopping it was.

I loved the plaid coat that I saw in Mags, but it really makes me look bigger because of the cut. And I really wanted to buy the black tunic but it was expensive so I figured I’d save and then buy it when I have money already. At the end of the day I was able to buy an LBD on impulse.

Yay for idle afternoons!

Unplanned

July 16th, 2009 § Leave a Comment

Impromptu gatherings are just the best. No one has enough time to say “no” and so since everyone’s out already, all goes with the flow.

This afternoon, a few of us batch mates from the Ateneo Marketing Class of 2009 had a mini-reunion at the lobby of Unilever Philippines. I was there to discuss my terms of employment while the rest of my peers were scheduled for a job interview.

DSC05753 DSC05755

I kinda got my camera out a little late already. If it hadn’t been for Don Marko, I would’ve completely forgotten that I brought it!

Being the gregarious people that we are, the office was of course turned into a mini party place what with all the noise and endless laughter. There was actually another guy waiting to be interviewed but we didn’t get to catch him on camera. Too bad since Ysa fancied him. I could just imagine the horror the guy felt when he encountered our crowd – he must have felt left out from all the noise we were making.

DSC05754DSC05796

In the midst of the job interviews/chaos, Janine and I pulled a prank on Leonard. I saw his wallet lying around in the sofa and decided to hide it in my bag. It took Leonard a good 20 minutes to find it in the outer pocket of my ginormous bag – well 20 minutes and a lot of moving around, and asking other people to move and stuff. It feels like we’re back in college and stuff as I always used to pull prank on Leonard by keeping his stuffs.

DSC05807DSC05809 DSC05778 DSC05788

The interviews took a looong time. Each of them (in order of appearance Janine, Leonard, Marko, Ysa, Kim, Vince, Apollo – and Mon. LOL) took at least 30 minutes for interviews. I finished at around 5pm, but I had to wait for about 2 hours for all of them to be done.

DSC05793
After the interviews, everyone was hungry and so we decided to have dinner at Lachi’s. Don Marko, Ysa and Dorina already made plans the night before but we all decided to join forces while we were at the office. We picked up Louie from his ED, and then met up with the D’s at Lachi’s already. It was fun fun fun! We almost didn’t get enough seats in Lachi’s but we made it, and had a nice dinner and funny conversations.

DSC05827DSC05829 DSC05852DSC05826

After dinners, we went our separate ways. Dorina, Ysa, Dweyne and Soy, I think, went to Torres to meet up with their other friends, while Louie, Leonard, Janine and I went to Kasagingan so that Louie could use the WiFi there for his job.

DSC05864DSC05866DSC05867 DSC05869DSC05868 DSC05862 DSC05863

We all left past 10pm already. My gosh. It was a long day but it was sooo worth it to be with my college friends! :)

Here’s a clip from dinner time at Lachi’s. Enjoy!

Changes

Soon enough, I’ll be trashing my current diet for a new one. Thanks to Chic, I’ve learned quite a few things last night about the body.

So goodbye No Rice diet! Hello change!
